Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and other foreign citizens who were able to obtain asylum in the Russian Federation "have not been seen helping Russian people," said State Duma deputy Dmitry Kuznetsov.

In a conversation with Gazeta.Ru, he stated that the former president of the Syrian Arab Republic “could spend the assets earned in his homeland for the benefit of Russia,” but this has not happened yet.

Kuznetsov expressed regret that “they (Bashar al-Assad and other foreigners – Ed.) are missing opportunities and wasting precious time.”
“Nobody has cancelled the court of conscience,” the State Duma deputy summed up.
Earlier, Bashar al-Assad's son Hafez revealed details of his family's departure from Damascus on his social networks. He denied rumors that the family was planning to leave Syria back in 2012-2013, when the capital was constantly under attack.
Let us recall that on December 9, the Syrian embassy in Moscow reported that the leader of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR), Bashar al-Assad, who resigned as president, was in Moscow with his family.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Assad had given orders to transfer power peacefully.
